The other day over the chat with some friends, I was told that a professor in the South holds that the prime time of Corpus Linguistics is over.

I was quite shocked at the statement or remark. What do you guys think?

On the contrary, Corpus linguistics 's prime time is just approaching, and much work is left to be done, such as the establishment of the codes of the corpus complilation, annotation; the development of newer concordancing tools, the wide use of the findings in corpus linguistics in language teaching and learning and other aspects.

I agree with 刘语料.
If we have to say CL has no future, it is just because everyone has ended in CL and thus CL loses its marked identity [paraphrased from Prof. McEnery].

What makes them say so? What's the thinking behind?

I guess those guys are fed up with palying with "over- and underuses" and "NS vs NNS" stuffs and are not able to find fresh things out of corpora.
