Create Author Index & Subject Index with Word

Great! I'll forward your way of indexing to a friend of mine who is now editing his PhD dissertation for publication.
 
This method is only viable when you use MS Word to edit your and print your thesis. But usually no publisher, at least in China, sets type with MS Word, instead they use 方正书版, and others; in the West, very probably they use Latex and others.

To my knowledge 方正 does not have a good solution for indexing. But maybe there have, otherwise it will be done manually.
 
you can use a concordance file to create an index automatically instead of mark up each item by hand.
 
说实话我觉得这位老兄把问题讲得太复杂了。
实际问题的关键是要编制一个按词频从高到低的wordlist出来。然后用“插入”-“引用”-“索引和目录”中的“自动标记”就行了。

这种做法较之一个一个的手动标法就好比单个词的concordancing和file-based concordancing。至于这个file或者list怎么做出来都可以。
 
Yes, the most important thing to to create a concordance file for batch markup. SCP only provides an easy to get a wordlist in plain text.
