The Letter Corpus of ICAMET contains 254 complete letters, arranged diachronically, from different sources. The letters were written between 1386 and 1688. The corpus particularly encourages, apart from language analysis, pragmatic and sociolinguistic studies, but also analyses concerning cultural life and lifestyle.

Following up this topic, you can also get both social and business letters from ICE Corpora. The following five ICE corpora are downloadable from the link below. Each of them collects 30 texts (2000 words per text) of letters, so putting them together, you can get a free corpus of contemporary social and business letters of 5 X 30 X 2000 = 300,000 words.
