Hi,everybody. I am using Range, powerful and easy to manipulate.
However, I find some points difficult to understand with regard to the output file.
I downloaded the lastest file Vocabulary resources.zip directly from http://www.victoria.ac.nz/lals/staff/paul-nation/nation.aspx and extracted Range32.exe. I tested it againt Text1 and Text2 (Joni.txt and Widi.txt) extracted from INSTRUCTIONS.DOC in the same folder of Range32.exe. The output file yields these lines:
Table of Ranges: Types
80 Words appear in 1 input files
13 Words appear in 2 input files
Table of Ranges: Families
65 Words appear in 1 input files
14 Words appear in 2 input files
My questions are:
1. I count the types found in 2 input files, but only 12 words are availabe in the output file, which is one word less than the reported 13 words.
2. When I look at the "LIST OF FAMILY GROUPS" in the output file, I don't quite understand what TYFREQ and FAFREQ mean. Take the word "Day" for example, TYFREQ is reported as 1 and FAFREQ 2. I look again at Joni.txt and Widi.txt and find one word "day" in Joni.txt and one word "days" in Widi.txt. If TYFREQ is short for "type frequency" and FAFREQ for "family frequency", I guess, for the word "day", it should report the opposite: 1 for FAFREQ and 2 for TYFREQ.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
My output file is an attachment to this posting. Also included are basewrd1.txt,basewrd2.txt,basewrd3.txt, Joni.txt and Widi.txt.
