This website allows you to search the 37 million words in the Oxford English Dictionary, using a very different architecture and interface than what is available at the standard OED site. With this interface, you can:
See the frequency of a word, phrase, or substring (e.g. root or suffix) in each century from the 900s-2000s
Sort and limit by the frequency in any century or set of centuries (e.g. adjectives of woman in the 1800s, but not the 1900s)
Find the collocates (nearby words) for a given word or phrase, which often provides good insight into meaning
Compare collocates across time, which often gives good indication of change in word meaning or usage
