Hello,
To migrate your backed-up library offline, so that your document database will now load without synchronizing with Mendeley Web (It will not be linked to your online account), try following these steps:
1. Extract the "XXXXX@hottmail/gmail.com@www.mendeley.com.squlite" file
from your backup .zip file.
2. Rename the file to: "online.sqlite"
3. Close Mendeley Desktop
4. Copy your database "online.sqlite" file into your Mendeley data folder, this
will be in one of the following locations (depending on your operating system):
# Windows Vista: C:\Users\?Your Name?\AppData\Local\Mendeley Ltd\Mendeley Desktop
# Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\?Your Name?\Local Settings\Application
Data\Mendeley Ltd\Mendeley Desktop\
(Please note that you might need to enable the 'Show hidden folders and files'
setting in Windows Explorer's 'Folder Options' to be able to navigate to those
folders in Windows Explorer)
If a file called "online.sqlite" already exists in your data folder, overwrite it
with the new one (your database file).
5. Open the Windows registry editor:
# Windows Vista: Open the windows menu -> type in "regedit" (without the quotes) into the Search box -> Hit <<Enter>>
# Windows XP: Open the Windows Start menu -> Click "Run" -> Type in "regedit" (without the quotes) into the "Open" box -> Click OK
6. In the registry editor, delete the following key (please make double sure that you are deleting the correct registry key): "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mendeley
Ltd.\Mendeley Desktop\MendeleyWeb"
7. Launch Mendeley Desktop.
Mendeley desktop should launch loading your backed-up document list, without attempting to log in.
