想要请教关于L2英语学习者程度与其syntactic complexity之关系有哪些文献可以参考? 英文程度越好、或年级越高,其complexity (like clauses, T-units, etc.)似乎应越高,请问有哪些文献? 程度一般来说大多依照年级来分,还有其他依据吗?我希望能了解有哪些点切入探讨,非常感谢各位帮忙与指点!

As Prof. Lu's syntactic complexity analyzer is based on Stanford Parser and its Tregex GUI, but one thing that I am most concerned about is the accuracy of the parsing. And it becomes more problematic when the parser deals with L2 learners' texts.

Right. The performance of the analyzer was evaluated on 40 essays randomly selected from WECCL 1.0 (essays written by college English majors). Details of the evaluation are documented in the 2010 IJCL publication. It could be less reliable on essays by lower-level learners (e.g., high school learners or non-English major learners), and it is advisable to manually analyze some data and compare the results from the manual analysis with those returned by the analyzer to see if the reliability is acceptable.
