Theme Areas
The symposium organizing committee welcomes abstracts of paper presentations addressing research and pedagogical issues at the tertiary educational level in the following areas:

1. Teaching and learning English as a second/foreign language
2. Language testing and assessment
3. Curriculum/syllabus/materials development
4. Aligning assessment with curriculum
5. English for academic/specific purposes
6. English as a global lingua franca
7. Language education and technology
8. Corpus and discourse research in language education
9. Multimodality in the learning and teaching of English
10. Learner autonomy and learning strategies
11. Longitudinal perspectives in the learning and teaching of English
12. Learning English and learning disciplinary content through English


Abstract Submissions
All individual presentations will be 25 minutes in length, including 10 minutes’ question time.
Your abstract (in MS Word Version) should be a maximum of 250 words (excluding references). Please also include in your abstract: (1) theme area (state one of the above areas), (2) title of your paper, (3) your name and title, (4) your affiliation, and (5) your e-mail address and mailing address.

Each participant can submit only one abstract as the lead author and one abstract as a co-author. Lead authors must register by 10 September 2011 in order for the paper to be included in the conference programme. Please send submissions to: egistetl@inet.polyu.edu.hk.

Publication
