CORPUS LINGUISTICS - 2006

The Department of Mathematical Linguistics, Faculty of Philology,
ST. PETERSBURG STATE UNIVERSITY, jointly with
the Institute of Linguistic Studies,
RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES,
and
the Department of Applied Linguistics, Faculty of Philology,
HERZEN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF RUSSIA
announce the details of the International Conference Corpus Linguistics - 2006.
The conference will be held in St. Petersburg, from 10th to 14th October 2006.
The conference will provide an opportunity to discuss a wide range of corpus linguistics problems, both of theoretical and practical significance. The topics of the conference encompass corpora representativeness, relevance of source documents, linguistic and metalinguistic mark-up, as well as other problems in linguistic, programming, and management fields in corpora construction. A special area of corpus linguistics proposed for discussion is the use of corpora in linguistic research and development of application suites, primarily user-friendly search engines (corpus managers) for linguists. Particular attention will be paid to co-ordination of corpus linguistics research in Russia and development of guidelines for this domain. The speakers and other participants will be invited to review the results of the conference at the final roundtable session.
