Call for Abstracts
The 28th Annual Conference of the International Computer Archive for Modern and Mediaeval English will be held in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, from May 23-27, 2007. The purpose of the conference is to bring together people engaged in research in English corpus linguistics in all its manifestations, providing an opportunity for communication and collaboration between individuals and groups.
The programme will consist of full papers, work-in-progress reports, a poster session, and a discussion panel, as well as invited plenary talks. There will also be a pre-conference workshop.
You are now invited to submit abstracts for papers, reports or posters.
Papers dealing with any topics relating to the research interests of ICAME are warmly invited; these include but are not limited to:
? early and modern English corpus linguistic study
? diachronic modern English corpus study
? synchronic analyses of spoken or written corpora
? the interface between temporal and regional English variation
? register/genre variation
? applied corpus linguistics (sociolinguistics, pragmatics, discourse)
? multi-lingual corpus study
? international English corpus study
? learner English corpus study
? the use of corpora in language learning and teaching
? corpora in lexicography
? corpus annotation, tagging, parsing
? corpus analysis tools, software development
We propose to focus on particular themes: DETAILS TO FOLLOW SHORTLY
Submission guidelines
Full Papers are 20 minutes long with 10 minutes for discussion.
Work-in Progress Reports are 10 minutes long with 5 minutes for discussion.
Posters are for work in progress, or research suited to visual presentation of data (in charts, graphs, or tables). Time will be designated for presenters to discuss their posters. Upon acceptance, presenters will receive guidelines for their posters.
All abstracts will undergo anonymous review. In order to limit the number of parallel sessions to three, there will be a limited number of papers. We encourage participants to consider submitting posters for work in progress.
Abstracts should be between 200 and 300 words (plus a few selected references), long enough to allow reviewers to judge the quality and relevance of the proposed paper.
Your abstract should be submitted as an e-mail attachment. Please specify at the top if you would like it considered as paper, work-in-progress report or poster.
Please put a title on the abstract page, and place author name, contact information, institutional affiliation, and paper title on a separate page.
Please send abstracts as PDF files if they contain any specialised fonts.
