From 10 to 14 September 2007, the Centre for English Corpus Linguistics (University of Louvain) will be organising a
Summer School on Learner Corpus Research: From corpus design to data interpretation
The aim of the Summer School is to introduce learner corpus research through a series of lectures, workshops and hands-on sessions, and to show how the challenges it presents can be met. It is intended both for researchers who have recently embarked on a learner corpus project and those who simply want to know more about this exciting field of research.
It will take place at the University of Louvain (UCL), in the elegant and modern city of Louvain-la-Neuve, 30 km south of Brussels.

Tuesday 11 September
Learner corpus annotation
Error-tagging: systems, principles and typologies
Wednesday 12 September
Error-tagging workshop
Learner corpus analysis: phraseological approach
Automating learner corpus analysis (hands-on session)
Thursday 13 September
Quantitative approaches to learner language
Discuss your learner corpus project with the members of the CECL team: one-to-one sessions
Conference dinner
Friday 14 September
Interpreting learner corpus data
Investigating transfer effects in learner corpus data
Learner corpus teaching applications
