PRELIMINARY ANNOUNCEMENT – call for expressions of interest

ASTON CORPUS SYMPOSIUM: Friday 4th May 2007 10am-5pm
The Aston Corpus Symposium celebrates the re-launch of corpus research activities at Aston University, in particular the ACORN (Aston Corpus Network) project: http://corpus.aston.ac.uk, initiated by the School of Languages and Social Sciences, and funded for 2006-7 by the Flexible Learning Development Centre.
The programme will consist of presentations by the following distinguished speakers:
? Bill Dodd (University of Birmingham)
? Patrick Hanks (Masaryk University)
? Michael Hoey (University of Liverpool)
? Susan Hunston (University of Birmingham)
? Ramesh Krishnamurthy (Aston University)
? Bill Louw (University of Zimbabwe)
? Tony McEnery (Lancaster University)
? Mike Scott (University of Liverpool)
? John Sinclair (Tuscan Word Centre, Florence)
? Wolfgang Teubert (University of Birmingham)
The final details are still being arranged, but the attendance fee is likely to be c. ?40 for the whole day, including the full symposium documentation package; lunch, coffee/tea, and other refreshments; and the Reception at the end of the Symposium. There will be a discounted fee for unwaged students, on production of evidence of their student status.
Places will be limited, so we ask you to express your interest in attending as soon as possible. We will then offer places on a first come, first served basis. Please email Iztok Kosem (kosemi@aston.ac.uk) now, and he will send you more information about the event as soon as it becomes available.
