right! linguistics is a multi-displinary subject, so it borrows statistics and use it as a method to engage in emperical study of linguistics, for corpus linguistics ,it heavily relys on statistics, and there is a book (statistics for corpus linguistics by Oakes 1998 ) which gives a detaile about it .
