A WinConcord question

Is it true that WinConcord (the version stored on this site) has trouble
with long file names? Not that I use it often, but I just tried it with some
of my Chinese files. It had trouble recognizing the file names after you
have added them to the list, and the result it that it cannot do anything
with them.

Wconcord was developed some ten years ago, so it is only supports 8 letter filename. This is the filenaming convention in DOS’ time. But this does not mean Wconcord cannot read long filename files. For example, we can only view a plain text file named “testchinese.txt” as TESTCH~1.TXT in the File List Settings dialog box.
If I have a testchinese segmented by ICTCLAS as testchinese_cla.txt, it can only be viewed as TESTCH~2.TXT.

Tips:
1. Wconcord supports multiple files concordancing.

2. Another reminder is that Wconcord has a ceiling capacity of 16,000 rows for the texts. So I suggest you modify the default 2,000 rows maximum list size to 16,000 when you are doing concordancing or collocation search.
