Charles is a professor of applied lingusitics from the University of Massachusetts at Boston. He the author of "English Corpus Linguistics: An Introduction" (Cambridge University Press, 2002). Proof. Meyer is the co-editor of the Journal of English Lingusitics, and the book series Language and Computers: Studies in Practical Linguistics (Amsterdam: Rodopi). He is currently co-directing with Prof. H. Tao the ICE-US project - the US component of the International Corpus of English.
