Here's how I would revise your sentences:
1) Learners will benefit from memorizing good English prose (or whatever is good material for memorization). Learners will benefit from reciting English prose. (If you want to keep the word 'recite,' meaning to say something from memory or other things, for example, a book)
Which is the intended message? Please check the context.
2) Much practice and thinking is a way to learn English well. (If you want to stick to the sentence structure)
There are many other ways to improve the sentences. By the way, dictionaries and concordance lines will help solve such problems.
according to my understanding, the first sentence may be changed this way: To recite benefits people.
Is that workable?
Then the mistake is just that of improper positioning. Am I right?
Thanks to anybody who will disabuse me of this question!
