About APCLC 2016

APCLC 2016 is the third of the Asia Pacific Corpus Linguistics Conference series under the auspices of Asia Pacific Corpus Linguistics Association. It is going to be held at Beihang University, Beijing, China from Friday 21 October to Sunday 23 October 2016. We wish to bring together corpus researchers on different lines in the Asia-Pacific region and other parts of the globe for a reunion, to discuss issues of interest and to exchange ideas and methods for research in this fast changing discipline. The whole event consists of a preconference workshop and the main conference which comprises special symposiums and concurrent sessions


Pre-conference workshop. The main conference will be preceded by a workshop day on Friday 21 October 2016, run by Tony McEnery and Michael Barlow and colleagues.


Conference themes. The central theme is Corpus research moving forward and beyond, with the following subthemes.

1) New technologies and methods in Corpus research

2) Cross-fertilizations in corpus research

3) Corpora and cross-linguistic and -cultural studies

4) Corpora and discourse studies

5) Corpora and language acquisition and learning

6) Corpora and lexicography and translation

7) Others

Important Dates

May 30: Deadline for abstract submission

July 30: Notify contributors of acceptance of abstracts

August 20: End of early bird registration

September 20: End of main registration

October 21: Pre-conference workshop

October 22-23: Main conference

October 24: Cultural tour in Beijing

All abstracts should be written in English, in the stylistic format suggested in the APCLC 2016 abstract template, and restricted within the length of 300 words, including references. Abstracts should be sent directly to APCLC3@hotmail.com no later than May 30 2016 (the deadline). All received abstracts will be reviewed by two experts each before a decision is made. Contributors will be notified of acceptance or otherwise of their abstracts by July 30 2016.
