Hi, folks,

Can you tell me the difference between the two methodology: corpus-based and corpus-driven?

Is there any reference Article available?

Many thanks.

Thanks, Dr. Xiao, for your response and paper attached.

I hadn't thought Corpus-driven to be so strictly defined and corpus-based so liberally.

I shall write to you again after the May 21st.

Thanks again and best regards,

M

Halliday's comment is that there is no need for such a distinction (Appoloy for missing the exact source)

You can cite it as

McEnery, T., Xiao, R. and Tono, Y. (2006) Corpus-based Language Studies: An advanced resource book [Routledge Applied Linguistics Series]. London and New York: Routledge.

The idea is further developed in one of my recent chapters:

Xiao, R. (2008) Theory-driven corpus research: Using corpora to inform aspect theory. In A. Lüdeling and M. Kyto (eds.) Corpus Linguistics: An International Handbook, pp. 987-1007. Berlin: Mouton de Gruyter.

请问肖老师,要引用这篇文章,出处该如何标注?
谢谢
