Zhu (2003): a paper or a person?

曾在自己的硕士论文中有过这么一句话......Zhu(2003) is a paper...这是笔者综述文献时，提到朱（zhu）先生的一篇文章。答辩睦鲜χ赋稣馐且桓龃砦螅因为Zhu（朱）怎么能是一篇文章呢、明明是一个人？我虽然印象当中见过这样的用法，但是，记得也不是很清楚，面对答辩老师的提问，只好承认是自己弄错了。
答辩完之后，仍然想寻找证据印证自己的记忆是否有误。这还真的找到一例：

这是一篇书评里的一句话，所刊登的杂志也是相当权威的《计算语言学》。这里Sinclair（1987）成了一本论文集（a collection of articles ）。看来，我的硕士论文中原来的用法似乎没有错。我这么认为，人名之后跟上夹注文献的出版年代等信息之后，它的含意发生了变化，已经不是单纯的人名了。但是，只有这么一个例子能支持我的假设吗？

导师在修改我的论文时也指出了类似的现象。我大约写的是 Sinclair and Leech (1990) defines it in this way...(例子是杜撰的)，老师也说应该是“...define it...,”我也觉得不大对劲，隐约记得见过单数的例子，后来忘了深究。

Sinclair and Leech (1990) is the best corpus-based grammar I have ever read (if you view Sinclair and Leech 1990 as a book).

Sinclair and Leech (1990) define it in this way... (if you are thinking of two authors).
