A good example...although English and Chinese are processed by the same part of the human brain.

I believe there is an innate cognitive system that handles language, whatever natural language it is.

If one is sensitive enough, he may well experience such a phenomenon: when one is totally talking in a foreign language, on a high level of thinking in that language too, he suddenly be aware that he is actually doing his mother language.

Although the linguistic cognitive system is not that explicitly accessible or declarative, a certain introspective way of thinking is liable to lead us near to it. The more declarative efforts we make to explore this territory, the better command of this system we can have. The more we use language, the more implicit knowledge of lanugage we have.

For sure.

When we are used to dealing with rights and wrongs and differences. It might be difficult for us to see that actually chances of making mistakes are kind of slim. There are so many fascinating similarities. Like a Chinese fat guy says "我能吃", for the same thing, an American fatty may say "I can eat". An angry Chinese father might give his son "一顿好打". A mischievous American boy might deserve "a good beating". In a tennis game, when a Chinese player says "这个球不算", the English thing for this matter can be "this ball doesn't count".

我觉得找到这些 clever examples 不容易, but I do not feel uneasy to read them.

This is an interesting topic and well worth researching.
CIA-contrastive interlanguage approach- also investigates the correlation between native tongue and interlanguage.

Some scholars are starting doing similar research.

L1 transfer can be positive or negative. A result of negative L1 transfer is chinglish.

But if a Chinese learner of English is pretty good at English writing, chances are that he or she seldom performs badly in writing Chinese compositions.
